Auto Repair Palm Springs
From Palm Springs, follow Ramon Road east or take Interstate 10 to the Ramon Road exit. Either way you land at our shop in Thousand Palms. Since 1981 we have serviced what Palm Springs drives, from daily commuters to the classics that come out on cool evenings.
Classics welcome
Pete’s own Chevelle lives at the shop, which tells you where his interest lies. Carburetors, drum brakes, and old cooling systems get the same attention here as late-model computer diagnostics. In this climate, cooling and brakes are what an older car needs most.
Everything under one roof
STAR smog testing with repair on site, A/C service, brakes, alignment, charging and starting system work, and factory-scheduled maintenance. Three ASE Master Technicians, one shop, and a 12-month / 12,000-mile warranty on qualifying work.
Heat is the common thread
Whatever you drive, this valley attacks the same systems: air conditioning, cooling, and batteries. Those three account for most summer breakdowns, and all three give warning before they strand you if someone is looking.
What Palm Springs drivers come in for
Palm Springs drivers ask us
How do I get to your shop from Palm Springs?
Take Ramon Road east all the way, or hop on Interstate 10 and exit at Ramon Road. We are at 32125 Arbol Real in Thousand Palms, about a mile east of the In-N-Out. The Circle K on Ramon means you passed us.
Do I have to sit in the waiting room while you work on my car?
No. We run a free shuttle. When you book, tell us you are coming from Palm Springs and where you need to be, and we will tell you right then whether we can run you there. If we cannot, you find that out while you are still on the phone instead of after you arrive.
I live in Palm Springs. Can I get my registration smog check done at your shop?
Yes. A California smog certificate is filed electronically with the DMV and is valid statewide, so where you live in the valley does not matter. We are a licensed STAR test and repair station, which also covers you if your renewal notice directs you to a STAR station specifically.
Do you work on classic and older cars?
Yes. Older vehicles are part of what this shop has always done, and in this climate their cooling and brake systems need the most attention. Call with the year and what it is doing, and we will tell you honestly whether it is a job for us.
Does a 1970s car need a smog check in California?
Gasoline vehicles from model year 1975 and older are exempt from California smog check. Anything 1976 and newer generally needs testing, and your DMV renewal notice states what is required for your vehicle. Call with the year and we will tell you what the state expects.
